On Monday 14th December the Town Hall unveiled a festive surprise - a Christmas themed projection featuring magical scenes including snowy rooftops, a sparkling Christmas tree and a glimpse of the main man himself - Santa and his reindeer.
In the summer of 2016 we were awarded some funding from the Community Foundation for Calderdale to help us and our local community tell stories from the Boxing Day 2015 floods. This is the first in an occasional series of blog posts where we'd like to share some of them more widely over the coming few months.
The first to highlight is the amazing "Waving not Drowning" film from Executive Producer Jason Elliott (@je64). If you've kicked yourself for missing the World Premiere at the Town Hall on the 27 November (and for missing the second showing on the 16 December) and haven't yet found it on YouTube then we are delighted to point you in the right direction (see below).
As Jason says: "This is not a film about a weather event. It is the story of community self-empowerment and organisation and how natural and intuitive this is."
The film was made by volunteer filmakers within 5 days of the floods. Community Foundation for Calderdale funding via Hebden Bridge Community Association enabled the completion of the final edit which you see now.
People are amazing: please watch and share!
